I have just used Belarc for some information about my computer and note there is a red x at patch number KB828741 (April 2004) as this is a RPC/Dcom patch I am worried. The actual Patch is listed in my Add/Remove programs and Windows Update does not tell me I need any critical/security patches.

I would be grateful if someone would advise if I remove this from Add/Remove and then re-install of do I just run the re-install over the top?

I am unsure as Windows History shows the install to be successful

Try installing the hotfix "on top ". I would think that the installer will tell You that it has already been installed.

BelArc verifies it OK on my system though.

Thanks again Christer - Belarc was right this time as the patch did not tell me it was already there!!! I now have a green tick in Belarc much to my relief :) It just proves even though I keep my PC updated in every way it is worth checking with Belarc etc just in case something like this happens!

Thanks once again you are back to my rescue ;)
