This looks as if you have a virus but as you cannot run a virus scan and do not have any error message it is difficult to know exactly. One thing you could do is to check the setting right click on My Computer - Properties - Advanced Tab - Startup & Recovery settings - make sure there is no tick in the little box which says 'Automatically Restart' (I am not sure if your computer reboots after it shuts down) this will then let you see any error message.
It could even be a graphics card related problem but it is best to rule out a virus/Trojan - have you tried to run a virus scan in safe mode?

I would also check the event log - contol panel - admin tools - event log viewer and see if this is an aplication error etc
