    Hi
I have a PC running Windows 95. When booting, it gets as far as:-

    Verifying DMI Pool Data ......

    Invalid system disk
Replace the disc, and then press any key

I have tried default BIOS etc but nothing seems to allow me past this point.
    I have no boot disk.

    Can anyone help with this?

    Regards
    Andy...

Something happened to your drive.Go to Bootdisk's and download the file for 95. Double click the 95 file with a floppy in the drive, and a boot disk will be created for you.
Boot the computer with the 95 floppy, and do these commands, pressing Enter at the prompt at the prompt:
    scandisk /autofix /nosave
    sys a: c:

Take out floppy and reboot. Post back the results.

Sounds like you either had a hard crash, or a virus delivered it's payload. Reinstall windows. That 95 boot floppy you created off of the downloaded file should give you CD rom access, put in the 95 CD and use this command to start setup.
    d:\win95\setup

    Hi
It will not recognise the E drive. (D is a partition of the C drive.

Sorry, my mistake, I gave your the wrong letter designation for that 95 boot floppy for the CD, use this command.
    r:\win95\setup

You need to use a windows 98 bootdisk to get cdrom access. The win95 bootdisk doesn't have the drivers necessary for the cdrom drive to work. Go back to bootdisk.com and download a 98 disk and it should work for you.

That 95 disk should have done it, unless I misread the Config.Sys and Autoexec.bat file concerning the CD drivers.
    Config.Sys
    DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:banana
    Autoexec.Bat
    MSCDEX.EXE /D:banana /L:R
Anyway, Zander has the better idea. Get the file for 98SE OEM. When booting choose with CD rom support. Just before the A:\> appears there is a message giving you the drive letter for the CD, it may be F: in your case. Use the letter in place of the X.
    X:\win95\setup
You can use the 98 floppy to do this, it only gets an operating system going enough for the first part of 95 setup, which is mostly copying files from the CD to the hard drive. After this 1st step is complete and you are prompted to do so, take out the floppy, as the hard drive will need to boot to complete the setup.
