also, what is a 'DSO Exploit'? Spybot keeps finding it every time i run it. it says it gets rid of it but never does

    Welcome to WindowsBBS! :)

Download the current version of CWShredder from the link in my signature. Save it to your desktop.

Scan again with HijackThis and place a check next to the following entries. Close ALL other windows and click fix.

Open CWShredder and with ALL other windows closed, click fix.

Right click My Computer and choose properties. On system restore tab, check the box to turn off. OK out.

Go to start>run and type msconfig, hit enter. On the boot.ini tab, check the box next to /safeboot and OK. Yes to restart. This will restart your computer in safe mode.

Now in safe mode, open C:\WINDOWS and delete the file CIPVFM.exe.
Open C:\Windows\Temp, select all and delete.
Open C:\Documents and settings\username\Local Settings\temp, select all and delete. Do this for all usernames.
Open C:\Windows\Prefetch, select all and delete.
Open My Computer and right click Local Disk C:, then choose disk cleanup. Check all except compress old files and OK.
Uncheck the /safeboot box in msconfig and ok to reboot.

Back in Windows, scan the PC with RAV and post the report here, along with another HJT log.

    Hello

can you give us some info on these files
    CIPVFM.exe & query.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\CIPVFM.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\query.exe
Find the files right click on them > properties > version, whats the manufactures name ? and details ?

I suggest you uninstall spykiller and spyhunter if its installed, Both are unsafe to use, check the fourth post in this thread

ok, i did all that - but there still some problems,

There was no 'CIPVFM.exe'. I may have gotten rid of it somehow.

Since there was none like that, i didnt go any further than the safe mode thing. Should I still go farther and delete the temps and stuff?

Also, after i did what i did, my homepage was good again. i shut down, then booted my computer the next day and it was back. this is cause i didnt follow through right with everything?

    Probably - about 95% certainly.

Log looks good. RAV is an online scanner. Nothing to download. Click the link I provided, then the clickhere link to continue without suscribing. Wait for the definitions to load, it will say ready to scan, then click 'scan my PC'. When done click report and copy/paste the results here.
