hi. My mums laptop was plagued with pup ups and ads so i loaded Spybot and Spysweeper to remove them. I knew both progs worked since i have them both on my own machine just now.
however after installing on my mum's laptop here Internet Explorer would shut down almost immediately after it was opened. almost as though it had opened and was then shut as if it was an advert. nothing else is affected.
I removed Spybot and spysweeper thinking that they were clashing with some other software. but the problem remains.
when you open internet explorer it shuts down after a fraction of a second rendering all internet use impossible.
what would cause this and how can i fix it?..please help as I'm getting fed up being pestered by her!!!!

    many thanks

Try a simple repair of IE .....

Start > Run > type in sfc /scannow - note the space - you will probably need your XP install CD handy.

  3. to hide this advert.

I don't think she's ever updated her version of windows or any of the components. i'll get her to update all the components and see what happens
