dialing default

I have my Tools/Internet Options/connections set to always dial default. Often but not always when I first bring up the system and try to initiate IE and auto dial through a short cut I won't get connected. If at that time I go look at the setting it's been changed to "never dial ". But if I close the window and try try again it will dial and connect. Any ideas ?

Being an intermittent problem it may be difficult to track down.
However because it is intermittent it gives some clues of items it is not. So what I would do is first delete that shortcut you have created for launch and create another to the original Exe program. Once created check the path listed back to the original. If you right click the new shortcut, select properties, make sure that it displays the correct routing back to the original in the target box. If all is ok try your new shortcut.

Dave, thanks for the tip. I tried it and have watched a week or so but it still sometimes connects and sometimes doesn't. It's not a really big deal to close and reopen but one wonders why there isn't "exact repeatability.
