    Hi,

I just upgraded my PC from Win ME to Win XP Pro. After downloading and installing Ntescape 7.1 without any error messages, I still can not start Netscape. Program seems to be installed correctly

    Welcome to the Forum, Yves!

    Hi Yves,

I can assume there is no other Netscape or Mozilla installed on the PC? Since you are now running Windows XP, you might want to check your Registry, and see if these keys are in place. This is a tip from another Windows XP user who was unable to get Netscape to start:

Under the user profile, do the folders Mozilla, and mozilla.org, have user permissions. You may need to add, to the user profile from which Netscape was installed, and using Regedit, add the permission of "Everyone ".

    Start | Run | regedit

You will see a structure of folders just like Windows Explorer
    Click the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\Software\mozilla.org
You will see a permission for the user desktop you are using, labeled "default "
Now add a new line "Everyone "

    Do the same for: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\Software\Mozilla
Again, you will see a permission for your user desktop. Add a new line "Everyone "
