    Good Day All,

For a network of 200-500 workstations (will never be more than 1000), what is best, static or dynamic IP?

    Thanks

At work we have found that using a combination of DHCP from a PDC for the users and Static IP's for the Servers and the Administrators best.

    We run over 500 puters...

DHCP hands down. You would pull your hair out with anything over 25.

Like was said above reserve a spot in the addresses for static Servers, Network Printers, Routers and Firewalls. Leave everything else on DHCP.

Absolutely, completely agree with the others.

If you have a regular DHCP server (rather than the limited versions with most of the SOHO router/switches) there are a large number of settings the DHCP server can assign for you in addition to just the IP/netmask/gateway.
