I have windows xp and when I try to suspend my computer, it wont. It says it will standby but then in a few seconds it turns back on. Another problem is when it goes into screensaver mode. When I shake the mouse it goes into the welcome screen and I have to reopen my user account. Can anybody help?

This one usually means you have something running in the background that the system sees as 'user activity' and comes out of suspend like it is supposed to.

Another problem is when it goes into screensaver mode. When I shake the mouse it goes into the welcome screen and I have to reopen my user account.

If the screensaver is set as password protected it can mimic the 'welcome screen' thing.

At this point I'd try two things.

    - turn off the screensaver and see if the PC will suspend normally.

    - turn off password protection for the screensaver if it is turned on now.
