Upon start up of win 98 I get an error explorer.exe @ 015f:00401f31 registers @ eax=0 cs=015fe1p=00401f31 proceeded by several other strings of errors the same, only with different numbers. I can close the box. However, when I do the system goes to the desktop, but no icons are displayed. I can only restart my computer. In the 98 "task manager" it shows mcafee msloop, and msg32. If I try to close any of those no change. I cannot get to safe mode, and I have tried scanreg /restore to no avail. Is there anything I can do short of reinstalling my os?

No, but thanks for the help. I appears that some kind of "critical" update for yahoo was downloaded and this error occurred upon reboot of the sys. This is a friend's sys and they need it, but I'm probably just gonna dffr the sys and get it over with. Thanks again.
