Admin problem

    I have a problem with a new game of mine, FFXI. it says that i don't have administrator rights when i try to open it. i am 100% sure that i have selected the admin option for my user, but it still doesn't work. i have also tried to log in on to the original user, but it doesn't work there either. please help me...

    still having a problem here..

    It doesn't work after trying the
    "How to Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP" link either. The problem is more about the administrator rights itself i think... it's not the file that is the problem. I think that the PC is not responding as it should to the administrator rights and limits...

    Check you have Administrative rights as user ....

    Control Panel > User Accounts.

    administrator problem here

    I have done that. i am a houndred percent sure of that. it has to be something else...

    I Googled 'FFXI' -is this an online game? I would get in touch with the providers.

    I am not a gamer in any shape or form - sorry :(

    it is an online game, but the problem doesn't have anything to do with that... well it is a pity you can't help me... but life goes on ;o)

    Did you check with tech support for the game as PeteC suggested? There may be a known (well, to them at least) issue and they have a fix or workaround.

    Have you tried using 'runas' and starting the game with the computer admin account? Just right-click the shortcut and you should see "Run As" among your options.
