    Hello,

when shutting down Windows 98 SE I always get a "File Open Message Window" error message. The error doesn't precise which of the programs is open. There is only an exclamation sign to be seen. I've installed a patch from MS which should solve some problems with shutting down Win98 but it is not related to my problem, as it seems.
When I started Win98, let it load and then tried to shut it down, then it would shut down properly.

Do you have an idea if it could be fixed anyhow?

    Ralf

Click Here for a good 15-step shutdown troubleshooting guide. It's one of the few I've found that starts with the easiest first (an approach I've always liked...a lot!) so you don't waste time on involved procedures if the problem was, for example, simply a corrupt shutdown wav file trying to play.

Thank you for your input but having tried the hints I haven't found a solution to this problem yet. :(

When this message appears, press CTRL+ALT+DEL at the same time, what programs are listed there?
