A very nice set of Mozilla icons has been sitting quietly in the Chrome folder for ages, and and a matching splashsceen may be downloaded splashscreen.

Why have these items not become the default?

    Labarum,

Those icons are used as default. Open Download Manager and look at the icon in the upper left hand corner. It's the same icon you see in the chrome folder. Same for Address Book, etc..... They are very tiny, and and ordinarily you would pay little attention to them.

So they are, never noticed. But why not on the desktop? If you don't want that wretched dragon, you have to change it maually.

    Splash Screen

    Ramona:

Does this work for you to eliminate the Mozilla spalsh screen?

Alter the properties of the desktop Mozilla icon to:

    Target: "G:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\mozilla.exe" -nosplash

    Evinrude,

(I aint Ramona) but yes that will work as will:

    Target: "G:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\mozilla.exe" -quiet

    Labarum:

Unfortunately the "wretched" dragon icon you speak of is hard coded in the mozilla.exe file. Short of hacking the source code, you have to edit it manually.

As a general comment, you can have ANY splash screen you like by placeing a *.bmp file (called mozilla.bmp) in the program directory.

    Just a thought.

    Hi Evinrude,

Yes, the -nosplash switch will work, but I use -quiet. I'm lazy, it's less key strokes! ;)

    More Command Line Options

I have used -nosplash, but one of my PCs is quite slow and its useful to know something is happening.

And yes - any BMP will load if called mozilla.bmp

That wretched dargon seems so childish an umprofessional compared to the Netscape icons.
