I use Windows 2000. I recently uninstalled Norton Antivirus 2004.
Afterwards, I can no longer use the Find function in IE6. Find cannot be clicked and clicking Cancel does not close the box, only pressing the X does.
My Control Panel also seems to be altered as it looks like this [IMG]. My Add/Remove Programs has also been affected as it looks like this [IMG] The text says "Change or Remove ProgramsAdd New ProgramsAdd/Remove Windows ComponentsSet Program Access and Defaults "
I am not able to get the Windows Update page to load properly. There are probably other problems that haven't surfaced yet.

Oh yeah, and I can't press the smilies. Any help would get greatly appreciated :)

What was the reason for uninstalling Norton, and what did you replace it with? Is it possible that a pre-existing problem caused you to think Norton was at fault, and that same problem is still there? Have you scanned your system for malware with AdAware and Spybot? Done any trojan or virus scans? Find anything?

I uninstalled Norton because my subscription had expired. I replaced with AVG 6.0 Antivirus System. I have scanned my system with Ad-Aware, Spy-Bot, Housecall and AVG and have deleted/repaired all malware and infected files. I rebooted the computer, but the problems were still there.
Sorry I had failed to mention this in the previous post but this happened to me once before. After I reinstalled Norton, everything went back to being normal. Is there any other way I could fix this problem though?
