I have never seen this before.. Im pretty sure they did not belong there, but I know better than to do anything with the registry till I get more information. Hi, Nevada, welcome to the BBS. I Googled "PersistentHandler" and found this Doug Knox page that you may find helpful.

    I would leave it alone.

    Hi Johanna Thanks for the welcome . :) I have another question ?? My husband put a PC Bug Doctor on my computer to help get rid of all the bad snoops and what have you. will I think that is what did this for every folder in my register under hkeyclass root is named PersistentHandler and the instruction on what you sent scare the big S out of me ... :eek: I dont understand half of what its saying like the part Do this by clicking on the file extension key and going to Edit, New, Key. Name the Key, PersistentHandler. Click on the PersistentHandler sub-key. In Regedit's right pane, double click on the Default value and enter the following (copy and paste may be your best bet):

    {5e941d80-bf96-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}

    Its already call PersistentHandler :confused: just about every one is called that the problem and if that is how you do it I would be up for the next two weeks for under class root is my whole computer Ill send a picture of my registry and how many Im talking about again thanks for you help

    If you can, try removing the software hubby installed in Add/Remove. If that doesn't work, can you use System Restore to go back to before your husband installed the PC Bug software, or is that impractical because of other changes?

    Most people here will advise you to use a good firewall and AV protection, and update and run Spybot and AdAware to keep one up on all the net nasties.

    Is this "persistant handler" causing any problems? Were there any undesired effects that led you to look for it?

    (Oh, btw, you have to be a contributing BBS member to post images and attachments)
