ClearType issue with 17" Philips LCD Monitor

    I have a 17" Philips LCD monitor. When I activate Cleartype, it looks fine - But if I look carefully I can see there are "smudges" of red around the smooth text.
    Any idea why? Sorry about not being too specific.

    Good - it tweaked my laptop and 22" CRT nicely.

    I use ClearTweak for this. It does pretty much the same thing as the MS webpage does but allows you to fine tune it even more. It's freeware (no spyware) so it doesn't cost anything to try it. ;)

    I think you have to use IE, or one of its various "front-end" shells (I use SlimBrowser when needed) to use the site. With Mozilla Firefox, I was unable to use the "Next" buttons or to see the text in the boxes on page four.
