On a Compaq Pentium2 computer with Windows ME I have a floppy drive that has been NADA for a couple of years.
    It occurred before installing ME.
The light on the drive stays on and if you put a disk in it nothing happens.y
I am completely perplexed by it.
I am not sure if maybe cords/plugs got mixed up or what.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated - as usual :)

If the light stays on constantly after booting, the most likely the floppy cable, as it connects to the drive, is on backwards.

    Cheers,

Thanks for the reply and pardon the stupid question I am about to ask:

How would it on backwards?

You've probably put it in the wrong way round. Pull the cable plug out of the back of the drive, turn it over, and plug it back in.
