Yep, got it . Was using 0.9 RC till afew minutes ago.

I have problem with stored passwords. They are there - copied across the xxxxxx.s file and renamed it in the usual way.

All the paswords are there and active when called, but when I ask for a display of them I see nothing. Any Ideas?

    Labarum,

I don't have 0.9 installed yet, but try renaming the *.s file to signons.txt and see if that allows you to view your Passwords.

    Done that in

    C:\Documents and Settings\Brian\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.m0f

Its still seems to have acces to the paswords, but still will not display them.

Could it be looking at another profile I don't know about. Or at default.old ??

    Tis a mystery.

By the way the weather in UK has been outstandingly good for a week.

    Labarum,

I'm going to download and install 0.9, and will see if I experience your problem...
Does the default.old Profile contain the same Passwords as 0.9? Try renaming the signons.txt file in all unused Profiles.

Yes, but I have turned it off by renaming it .sx.

If Firefox was looking there it cant now.

I have also determined that any password I enter int Firefox, Firefox will display. Those it inherited, it won't

Note that renamimg the xxxx.s to signons.txt made no difference.

    Labarum,

Coming to you via Firefox0.9. Since I don't use Firefox that frequently, I had no Passwords in the signons.txt file. I copied my Mozilla 1.7 *.s file to Firefox, renaming it signons.txt. No passwords were viewable in Password Manager, and I had to enter passwords for all sites requiring a password... I could see all the passwords listed in the signons.txt file, however. Maybe you found a big fat juicy bug? I will watch for other reports of the same issue...

    Labarum,

I decided to start over with a new Profile this time, which made no difference whatsoever. Found that Firefox is exactly like Netscape or Mozilla, in terms of the Password file. captjlddavis did me the favor of using the Zip installer, which I also used, and he too found no differences in whether or not a new Profile is created. What you must do first: go to any site which requires a password, this one for example. Once you enter the password, and request that Password Manager remember the password, close Firefox.

Now copy the *.s, or signons.txt file which contains your password to the default.xxx file. If your file is *.s, rename to signons.txt. If your file is signons.txt, then first rename the existing file Xsignons.txt, before copying to the default.xxx file.

Note that the Firefox Profile is now located in the Mozilla Folder, rather than the Phoenix folder. There is no salted folder, and in its place is the default.xxx folder.

Thanks Ramona and Captdavis for your efforts.

I followed your example and created a new profile.

Same results - the only passwords I can view are those enterd into Firefox - inherited passovers are available but invisible.

Well I will just watch for developments.

Mustn't complain too much till we see version one.

    Labarum,

As this is open source software, I trust you have reported the problem to Mozilla.org. That way you needn't just watch.

Gone back to Mozilla 1.7 RC3, Ramona. - Firefox is going to be superb - not there yet.

I might even have a go with Netscape 7.2 (if that's waht it will be called) when it is out.

I couldn't agree more, Labarum, and I'm sure it will be an excellent browser. It's just too beta for me. Of course, I should add that I do prefer the Mozilla suite, rather than two separate programs.

    Thanks for all the feedback.

And if the Mozilla Email Clent came up with a few more features I would abandon Mulberry - but its worth putting up with Mulberry's excentricities when managing a complex IMAP account.

I too had a couple of picky little problems with FF.9. When I open TB and open an email notification from one of my forums and click the link FF opens and I see what I need. However, lurking UNDER the browser window is a box telling me I have selected to open the file *named the link I clicked on* do I want FF to open it or do I want to DL it to the hard drive. After the little puff of smoke disappeard I clicked for ti to use FF to open it and to always do that. From then on it opens TWO browsers, one to the forum post it should and one to the email link on the hard drive! GAAA! It does the same thing if I drag a link onto my desktop for quick access in the near future it opens the browser to the right page but also gives a great groan ans opens a box saying that the file *named the URL link* can not be found check the name and try again.

I agree, I am going to stick with NS7.1 for now.
