Hi everyone! :D I was wondering I recently upgraded my video card drivers at the windows update site. Now I notice 2 drivers in my add/remove programs list( I dont think there were 2 before that that i noticed). One says "nvidia display driver" and the other says "Nvidia Windows 2000/XP Display Drivers" My question being should there be 2?? Does windows update remove the old ones before installing the new ones? And should I remove one of them if the first is the old driver. I was thinking if it was the old driver thats why my screen flickers because I sometimes get a flicker from my screen like the monitor was shut of then it comes back on. I heard that if 2 drivers are installed it can coause problems. Is that true? I dont have it happen alot but just enough to bug me. Like after playing a game like sims or toontown. I have the nvidia geforce4 ti4600 which is a great card and i dont seem to be having any other problems. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks for listening and any help would be great :D

Nevermind what you see in Add/Remove programs - what is important is which driver you are actually using :)

Go to Device Manager > Display Adaptors - only one should be listed.

Right click on your display card > Properties > Driver which will show you the driver provider, version and date. If you want more detail hit 'Driver Details'.

It is best to steer clear of drivers offered through Windows Update - they can cause problems and are by no means the latest, although they are Windows certified. This means that Nvidia have paid M$ to certify the driver which takes time. Most companies don't bother - they want their updated drivers out there now rather than later and prefer not to feed $$ to M$ :)

Suggest you download the latest driver from the Nvidia site and use that.

Also... when you download and install the new nVidia drivers, make sure to follow the instructions from nVidia. This includes uninstalling the old drivers. There are step by step instructions available and this will minimize problems with the update.
I will second the advice about using the drivers from the windows update site. I have tried them in the past and they're nothing but trouble.

Remove both if you can, you may only be able to remove one, the other may not be there. After you remove them, reboot, then install the new drivers. Post back if you have any problems.
