I started my computer the other day and it started in Safe Mode. I re-started and it seemed to be OK, but when I opened Control Panel, all the icons were bunched up on top of each other. I can drag one off to the side, but when I let go it just bounces back. I deleted the "shelliconcache" but it didn't help. I haven't added or removed or downloaded any programs recently.

    Any clues please??

I do not know what happened. But, try this, Restart in Dos Mode and do this command.
    scanreg /restore
Pick a registry dated before this happened.

    Thank you Markp62,

I'll give that a try and post the results.
