We just recently purchased a used Kodak digital camera (this should keep mne busy for weeks :) ).

I was hoping to get some opinions as to the best software to purchase for printing, editing, etc.

    Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Kim

Most photo editing software is rather expensive. Why buy when there's freebies available.

Just in case you are considering to buy; Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 is a very good program or Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 / Ulead PhotoImpact XL are all very good without being over expensive not like Adobe Photoshop CE.
Most of these programs are available on 30 day trail. I use Elements 2 and trying to come to grips with it.
Don't forget that Win.XP does a wonderful job in resizing your photos to send off in e-mails if you click on the Image on your left pane you will see a line that asks
do you want to send the photo (photos) by e-mail if you click on that it will bring up the resize question and on the bottom click for more and you can select the screen size it will then send the photo or photos to your e-mail program as attachments.
I have made a Folder in my Documents I named it Photo Mail and if I want to send a group of photos I just pick them from my albums via send to into that folder and click on the folder and it will resize all the photos in that folder and attach them to your e-mail very handy.
    good luck

Photoshop Elements probably has the most capabilities (other than the full Photoshop), but unless you intend to become a power user I'd stay away from it. It's highly unintuitive and difficult. I tried to understand how to do a simple task like increase brightness, and the instructions lead me through dozens of mysterious operations, then said to increase brightness click "screen ". Not THE screen, but the word "screen" in a menu. Or something equally meaningless.

This one http://brilliantlabs.com/default.aspx sounds good, but I haven't tried it.
