When I click on "new" in word, It comes up with a title that I have previously used. Somehow it was saved on the "new" document file and I can't find out how to clear it. I delete it and just start again, but it is really annoying.
I have searched everywhere and can't find how to delete it. Word makes so many decisions that I don't like and I spend most of my time trying to take auto format features off.

    Please help.

    thanks

Most likely, somehow a document got saved as the global template, normal.dot, instead of as a doc file.

With Word closed, make sure no files are "hidden" (My Computer>Tools>Folder Options>Advanced tab, put a check in the box for "Show hiddes files and folders," click OK) and then do a search of the harddrive for "normal.dot" (without the quotes). Delete all it finds.

Restart Word, open a new blank document and see if that solved the problem.

Miz ... you are great ... it fixed it. Don't know how it happened. What is a global template anyway?????? Thanks so much. You can't imagine how it annoyed me.
