Can't figure out this puzzle

When I am on either aol or ie, i can't access one of the sites i regularly visit.

When I enter the address, the site appears, then reverts to my home page, then (if i am on aol) knocks me offline. On ie, it just reverts to my home page. For some reason, i cannot access the site.

It doesn't happen on other computers, just my winxp laptop.

I have deleted files on ie, and cleared history and deleted offline content.

It only happens on this one site. Since I regularly visit this site and purchase stuff from it, it puzzles me. Any ideas?

wiry-- Do you want to tell us the site?
There are viruses/spyware that can cause the problem of knocking you off, but usually not just limited to one site.
Have you run a spyware detector like AdAware or SpybotS&D? (updating to latest reference files first)? Or perhaps you should run HiJackThis.
It is interesting that you are redirected to a home page that you want.
Do you run an Antivirus program?

Jim ... it happens on the "frontgate" web site. Only on that site.
I run norton antivirus but haven't checked for viruses in some time. I will run a virus check.
I ran adaware and will download spybot.

It's interesting but now ie is not reverting to the home page, but instead is knocking me off the same way that aol does.

Wiry--Run all the recommended programs, but be sure you have the latest reference file updates before you run the scans. Do not forget to run HiJackThis (you do not have to update it).
I can access www.frontgate.com just fine, but I notice it uses javascript. This is not uncommon, so it still is a bit of a mystery why just this one website is causing problems. (If you had the problem in general, I would say you had the Blaster worm or that your javascript settings in your IE Tool|Internet Options|Security tab|Custom Level were too high.)
Do you run a firewall??

have done everything except hijack. maybe i need to reinstall ie. my old windows 98 used to have a "fix ". I couldn't find that in the add/remove programs ... how do you fix ie in xp?

But I would suggest running an HJT log and posting it for the experts to review. I think you probably have a security problem (spy/ad/malware)

Problem has been fixed. After trying everything else, the thing that worked was to uninstall javascript and reinstall from Sun website. That cured it. It probably would have happened on more web sites as I tried to access ones that were running javascript.
