    Ramona,

I have Quicktime and Windows Media Player 9 on my computer. Some how Quicktime was enabled to play .MPEG files. I'd much rather have WMP handle these clips for I despise Quictime.

How do I go about getting the embedded .MPG files within web pages to work with WMV instead of Quicktime? I tried setting the preferences in WMP to open when .MPG files are selected but it doesn't do so within Mozilla 1.7. I also tried removing all my Quicktime files from my plugins directory but even that did no good.

    Any way to change this?

    Hi Kenny,

QuickTime is very greedy when it comes to selecting another media player as the default for a file type. In QuickTime, MIME types, have you removed the MPEG option? I had the same issue with midi files, and I finally gave up and uninstalled QuickTime.

What Version of QuickTime and Media Player are you using?

    Hi Ramona,

I just figured it out and corrected it! :) Once the clip was opened and finished playing, I right mouse clicked and got a menu where I was able to uncheck all boxes for Quicktime to be a default player.

    Man do I hate Quicktime!

    Kenny :D

    Kenny,

Good going! I agree with you 100%, altho I really wanted to use it, as it eliminated the need for several media players. However, it would hang, and I could not get it to let Crescendo play midi files, so I just got rid of it! May the next version will like my system better!
