A site to which I need access sent me a .P12 certifiicate which I must use to gain access to their site. I can't find anywhere in the Certificate Manager or elsewhere in Netscape 6 that allows me to import this certifcate. Is there someway to do it? - w/TIA

After a quick google search, the only information I found states that n6 doesn't have an import button, but you may be able to use the restore function to import the p12 cert. Basically it says to import the cert into Netscape 4.x, then export from Netscape 4.x, and finally import (restore) into Netscape 6. Not the most direct method, but the link below claims it works. I have no means of testing...as I do not use or have Netscape 6. So good luck ;) No guarantees.

    A Netscape Newsgroup Thread

    Hi jr3949,

I found this thread, which is basically the same information tranquilo found for you:

    snews://secnews.netscape.com/3C8F738F.4080804@stevewood.me.uk

    Edit|Preferences
select Privacy & Security then Certificates.

On the dialog that pops up -
    select Manage Certificates
On the next dialog click Restore and select the .p12 key file

Netscape will then restore the certificate to the security manager -
provided of course you have remembered all the passwords.

    HTH,

    Ramona :D

    importing certificate into Netscape 6

Thanks, Ramona & Tranquilo, for your information. Unfortunately, I no longer have Netscape 4.76 available, so I can't follow Tranquilo's suggestion. I tried the Restore suggestion, but it demands the "master password for Software Security Device ".
I tried backing up the certificate (so that I could assign it a "master password "), but when I clicked on the Backup button, it allowed me to select my .p12 cert, but then, as far as I can tell did nothing; it certainly didn't ask me for a password. When I go to the Security Device Manager, it wants me to login in with the Master Password I don't have (and don't ever remember setting). - If I click OK without entering anything, it's still not happy.
    - Sort of a vicious circle, alas.
