My task scheduler seems to have a mind of its own. Now and then - but not regularly - the icon suddenly appears on the task bar, and the scheduled task is done. Other times it will go for days without doing what it should. It used to work just fine, but some time ago - and I don't remember when this happened - it just stopped, and I have to remember to handle these chores myself!

I have two tasks scheduled: a check for Norton updates at 12:15 on weekdays, and on Fridays at 1:00 PM, a full system scan. The other day I happened to notice that at just about noon the icon appeared, and at 12:15 it did indeed check for updates. Today it did it again, but after it had checked for updates the icon vanished. The system scan did not start at 1:00 so I started it manually.

There are no viruses, no spyware, no adware, no obvious problems. The tasks show in both Norton and the Task Scheduler for the correct times, but this has been going on for a few months and I can't seem to find any logic.

Hi Bentley, Are you saying that both tasks are set for the same time/day
in MS Task Scheduler AND Norton Task Manager ?
    regards

I checked in both places, and can see that both the Task Schedule and Noron have identical entries. I set it in Norton, not in the Task Scheduler, but I assume that's how it works. I've never scheduled any tasks through the Task Scheduler.
