I have a Linksys wireless G broadband router and 2 wireless G notebook adapters. I connect to the net using BellSouth DSL. I connect to the net through the router fine. However, I cannot connect using either of the notebooks using the wireless connection. I have changed the channel used to connect on several occasions and I connect from the notebook for 15 minutes or so and then it is down again. In addition, when I am connected, my desktop computer (which the router is connected to) does not show up in my network places on either of the notebooks. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Puzzling. I'm assuming this is from the wired desktop PC.
    Code:
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.100
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1
    DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1
    DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
With a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 the only IP addresses that can 'see' each other without a router doing some fancy footwork are those that are identical except for the last set of digits.

So the DNS server shouldn't be available to that PC unless something odd is happening.

Please do ipconfig /renew on the desktop and one of the laptops and post the new Ipconfig info here.

In case you hadn't run across the easy way,
start~run~cmd followed by ipconfig /renew followed by ipconfig /all > c:\config.txt and just copy the contents of the config.txt file to this thread for the two machines.

    Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Thursday, June 03, 2004 8:46:26 PM
I did not get a config from the laptop because it was unavailable. I think I know what you are saying. I will double check the subnet address. By the way, I saw your recommendation on Notetab lite. I downloaded it and it is very good! Thanks for that. Meanwhile I will check these settings and post here. Thanks for your help.

What operating system is this on?

Are your wireless cards also Linksys?

Some things I had to do with my Linksys WRT54G and Linksys cards:

Use channel 6 (cordless phone interference)
    Update the router firmware
Download the updated drivers for the cards, especially the notebook adapter.

Additionally, I had to apply the XP patch for WPA and the wireless roll-up for XP.

I am using XP pro on all machines. I have done everything posted in the note.

Late last night, I reset everything and started over. It is now working! I hope it continues. I am using channel 6. Maybe that was the problem, I do not know. As long as it works, I am fine.

    Thanks everyone.
