I'm sure Ramona has answered this somewhere else, but I couldn't find it.

I recently hosed up my OS. I re-installed the OS over it and all my registry settings are gone. I restored my data from backup, but I failed to backup the registry. My understanding is that with the registry not restored, the applications are there, but are not considered installed.

It is also my understanding that I cannot restore these registry settings unless I actually have a registry backup (note that I did copy some Windows profile info over, but that provided only limited restoration).

My guess is that I now need to reinstall Netscape. I primarily use IE for a browser, but I like Netscape Mail and have some emails that I'd like to recover from my backup.

Do you have a link to an article or a previous Ramona thread that shows how to recover my email in this scenario?

System: Windows 2000 Server, SP4, with Active Directory
    Netscape 7.1

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Jeff,

Rename the existing Mail Folder XMail. It is located here:
    C:\Documents and Settings/user_name/Application Data/Mozilla/Profiles/profilename/xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail

Copy the Mail folder from the backup and paste it into the xxxxxxxx.slt folder.

For your Registry problems, it would be a good idea to post this on the Windows 2000 Forum. I believe you have a bigger problem than you realize. Newt and Bursley are both a whiz, when it comes to Windows.

    Wow! That was painful!

I ran into the problem where after install that nothing happened when clicking on Netscape icons or using the Start>>Menu>>Netscape options.

    Deleting the C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org\GRE\1.4f_2003062408
    resolved that.

I was able to recover my emails and most stuff seems to be working now.

Thanks for your help and for the information under your link to "Netscape and Mozilla Solutions." It was through that information that I was able to resolve this situation.
