A friend of mine had her computer into a repair shop because she was having troubles with the video (nothing showed on her screen). We are not sure what the problem was but when she got it home and started it up, the first screen she saw was black asking her if she wants to 1. Start Normally, 2. Safe Mode, 3. Start Diagnostics, and I forgot the 4th choice.

How can she change it back to the way it was before she took it to the shop. We just want the computer to boot up normally everytime and bypass this screen that she has to select 1. Normal each time.

    Thank you for the help.

If it were me, I'd take it straight back and tell them to fix it right. At no extra charge of course. But you might try booting to safe mode and doing a thorough scandisk.

    System specs?

Thanks, I'll have her try booting to Safe Mode and doing a scan disk.

She is an elderly lady and it will be hard for her to once again take the computer apart and drive back to the store which is miles away. That is why we are trying to solve the problem ourselves. I'll let you know what the scan disk does.

    Thanks for your help.

If the only problem is that you get the startup screen with the choices, and want it to go away, do this. Go to Start\Run, type in Msconfig and press Enter. When the System Configuration Utility opens, click on Advanced, then uncheck Enable Startup Menu.
