Need help fast. For weeks I notice that my pc was slowing down amid all
the defrag and disk clean ups. I found out that my registry was holding
information about every single file and application I downloaded for the
past 3 years, I can't believe this. Is it possible that WMP is
responsible for this or some other MS utilities? How can I prevent this
    from contituing?
I want to get rid of those useless links, is there a FREE registry
cleaning util tool around I can use? Or is ther any manual instructions
    manual anywhere?
I don't want RegSeeker 1.35, it's still in Beta mode.

I've used RegSeeker for quite a while and highly recommend it. Though 1.35 is a beta, I've had no problems with it.

I'll second the RegSeeker recommendation. Best cleaner I've used! :)

Here is another for you to look at

it is easy to use allthough it is not free there is a 30 day trial version I use a full version and have had 0 problems with it. It does create back ups of the registry before fixxing problems.

EasyCleaner and RegSeeker (below in my sig.) work well together and render obsolete RegScrubXP, which is no longer supported and updated, and the registry cleaning component of jv16PowerTools which after v1.3 went shareware.

Don't be concerned with RegSeeker being in Beta. It's been that way "for ever" and is very safe to use. With these cleaners you also have the ability to merge the deleted entries back into the registry if you find an application isn't working.

If your registry proves rather "dirty" resulting in a lot (hundreds) of registry entries being deleted, then I also suggest using the registry defragmenter (ERUNT) after cleaning, which will compact and speed up your registry.
    Also available below.

I have to add one more, which is freeware, and it's Registry Ripper from Karen's Tools. It's is the best, and safest Registry cleaner that I have ever used.

I recently removed NAV 2003, and previously had NAV 2001 installed. I follow the instructions for removal from the Symantic site. Afterwards, I ran Registry Ripper, and it found 184 entries for NAV...

    Found here: Karen's Power Tools

    RegSeeker

I'm a novice. Believe I read somewhere previously that one should only delete the registry items in green color when using RegSeeker. Is this correct?

    Thanks.

That is the safe route and make sure that the 'Backup before deletion' box is checked - default setting is checked, but double-check to be sure.

If you have problems after using Regseeker the backups are there to restore the deleted registry values.
