    Hi,

I've got a problem with my system. It started when I turned my system on yesterday and it would boot up and get as far as the Windows server 2003(Black with Windows logo) booting screen and then a BSOD would appear for a fraction of a second and it would reboot. I tried running Safe mode, Last known good configuration but none of these worked. I took the hard drive out of the problem system and into another and set this as the Slave drive, the main OS drive on the other system is an SATA one. It would then do the same thing, getting as far as the w2k 2003 boot screen and then resetting. I checked that it was set to slave and it was.

I thought that putting this as a slave would have let me to boot into windows on the other machine, and then access the data on the problem hard drive.

I managed to get a brief glimpse of the error on the BSOD and it was INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.

I ran some DOS software called NTFSReader, it brought up my partitions(C, D, F and G) and D, F and G scanned fine and I could access the folder contents on all. But, the C drive, when a scan ran it hung.

It seems that it's the C(system) partition that is causing the problem.

I thought that it may be the MBR and a friend suggested running the recovery console. I'm a little unsure on whether to do this as I've got e-mails on my C drive that I don't want to lose.

Are there any applications that could help me retrieve the data on the C, D, F, G drives?

    Many Thanks

    JP

I took my drive over to a friends and I've managed to recover the files I need.

I need to repair the drive as it's not starting up when plugged in as a master.

    any ideas anyone ?
