When browsing I get an error, "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error" .

This message appears on the window title bar at the very top of the page. When this happens, I get erractic results. Some pages load, other don't. For example, I was able to get here and post this just fine, but my MSN home page (a popular site) never loads.

    Win98se IE602.

    Perhaps:
In Internet Explorer go to Tools/InternetOptions/Advanced and and uncheck "Friendly HTTP messages." This will cause your browser to stop giving you the HTTP 500 Internal Server Error message and pinpoint the actual problem with your script.

The 500 codes are intended for instances when the Server software (NCSA HTTPD, Netsite, etc.) running on the site that you are contacting is having a problem sending you the html document.

    Internal Error 500:
The server was unable to send the html document to you due to an internal (server software) error.

Informative:====edited===what I had was not as helpful as I originally thought. Here's some MS topics that are more to the point:
