Somehow, i managed to get the autologon turned off (i suspect TweakUI).
When i booted up XP, a window appeared saying for me to click my name
    and i could logon.

Only nothing was there, no picture, no name, nothing! !@#$%^&*()_ what did i do now????? :(

Since i just finished re-installing XP, I was in a sweat, thinking "Oh NO, i have to start all over again ".

But, I finally got it to run Acronis and it restored everything (only backed me up 1 day). So, Acronis has already paid for itself in my book.

scuse me, i have to go take a shower and change my clothes. :)

Glad you got it working. If anything similar happens down the road, try ctrl-alt-del (all keys pressed at the same time), release, and then ctrl-alt-del again. Should give you a logon box where you can specify the user and password you want to use.
