I have two PCMaclan icons that load into my System Tray at start up, however I'm not using our Mac much lately so I don't need to use PCMaclan.

I'm trying to find out where these buggas are located so that I can prevent them from loading, I'm assuming they take up lots of SDRAM space.

I can't find the System Tray contents, only how to hide them—which I'm assuming means they are still loaded just not visable?

    Where is da tray folder?

    Thanks, Kerry

What you really want to do is use MSCONFIG and disable that puppy by unchecking it in the Start Ups group.

The Systray is an applet and as such has no folder per se.

    Hi Zepher:

I unchecked PCMaclan in the StartUp tab and restarted and now I get a System Configuration Utility window that gives me the option of undoing the changes.

Also the two PCMacLan icons are still in the tray :=O

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Kerry

You could open the program and see if it offers a way to not have it run at Start Up. Also given that MSCONFIG wasn't able to cut it, you'll need to find out just where it's being called from. I suggest getting StartupLog and it may be able to tell you whats what.

You can also look in your Start Up folder. I suspect it may be called from a Registry entry though.

Another thing to check is The Task manager screen Ctrl+Alt+Delete and see what title it has in there. Try killing it there and if that works you'll have more insight.

Once you manage to disable it, the icon in the Systray will be gone automatically. It's the tail, not the dog.

If all else fails, you could uninstall it.
