    Greetings!!!
Microsoft's website and technet sites are sooooo helpful when it comes to this one. We are trying to build a service that will call a .bat file that will restart if something happens to it (like crash and burn). Anyway the bat file and the exe file that we built for this works fine from the command prompt or from the START>RUN area. When we use the wizard from the Windows 2000 Pro Resource Kit though the service tries to start but
will eventually time out and give the Error 1053 code which is about the service not starting and timing out. We can see the service running on the desktop (like it does under the command prompt) but something has to be missing. Now that i've bored you with some of the details, any ideas out there? Thanks for any help you can shed on this.

If you mean srvinstw, I don't think that is for making non-service applications operate as services but for installing applications that were written as services. Try using SRVANY from the resource kit or FireDaemon or schedule using task scheduler. Win2k services also have Recovery options which can be configured to restart the service on failure.

Thanks for the help. The SRVANY worked just like the documentation says it does and all is now well with that system. I appreciate the help.
