When I opened my Windows Media Player 9 before today it automatically accessed the internet. Now when I open it, despite the fact that I'm definitely online, I just get the message "The page you are looking for is unavailable ". When I try to access the Radio Stations I get the same message on the player's screen. Would anyone know why my player won't connect to the internet? Many thanks.

A couple of things to check.
Tools/Options and check the box "Connect to the internet" This shouldn't be necessary but tick it just incase.
Tick "start in media guide" if this is where you want WMP to open too.
Also check you Proxy and protocol settings under the Network tab.

    Thanks, Paul.

In Tools/Options/Network I have the following configuration:
Streaming Protocols are all ticked except 'Use Ports'.
Streaming Proxy Settings: Protocol - HTTP Proxy - Browser
Configure: Use proxy settings of browser.

I think this problem only became noticeable to me after a Media Player 9 update from Microsoft over the past few days.

As for now, the problem remains. :(

........... and, of course, 'Connect to the internet' and 'Start in media guide' are ticked also.

    ;)

Aha! I discovered the answer to my difficulties. In my 'ZoneAlarm' firewall I found that in 'Program Control' Windows Media Player had an X the 'Access' box, thereby preventing the player from connecting to the internet. I put a 'tick' in the box, and now all is well. :D
