Spybot 1.3 indicated an entry, "Connect MFC Application" found in the registry during scan. I removed it but still have in backup.

I don't know what this is. I tried search in the Forum, saw several references to MFC; put it in Google and it looked harmless to me but that is with my limited knowledge, and now I don't know whether I should put it back, ignore it, or keep it removed.

The first two or three times I ran SpyBot it come up clean so this entry is from the past week.

Asking for suggestions as to what I should do with the entry now is backup.

If picked up by Spybot, I would question the potential of this entry. Did Spybot provide any more information on it? Did you do any recent updates that it may have come with? If you haven't noticed any problems since removing it, leave it alone.

I haven't downloaded any programs, nor have I deleted/installed anything in the programs. I have secured updates for AdWare, Norton, and such as that. I run all my "make happy" programs on a Friday. Don't know whay I do this on that particular day but do.

I have removed it as indicated and was in the Registry. I don't know/can't find a way to get the details of something in SpyBot as I'm able to in other programs. Right clicking, left clicking, nothing!

I'll take your advice and leave it out and in quarantine for a week maybe. Then if nothing changes I delete it. I can't see anything different since it was removed this morning.

    Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for that information. Makes me feel a little better knowing why SpyBot picked it up.

Mudd--You are welcome. If by "backup" you mean some sort of quarantine (or sandbox) area that isolates the MFC file, and all goes well for a week or so, I suspect you can finally delete it.
(I do not use SpybotS&D, so do not know their terminology.)

I believe I'm right in saying, "Removed and Backed Up" as there is a way to restore the removed item(s). So I'll do the suggestions of waiting a while and then make the move. Probably wouldn't hurt anything to just leave in as is! I ran the SpyBot again and it came clean. Again, thanks for the information.

The backups certainly aren't hurting anything. Unless you are cramped for space, just leave 'em. Until I recently upgraded to V1.3, I had backups from the past year. :)
