    Hi All
Can anyone tell me why, whenever i click on the envelope icon in explorer to go to outlook express I get the message.
Can not delete ntuser.dat: It is being used by another person or program.
Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.
If I click on ok it opens outlook express just as normal.

    Hi Ski123
I'm the only user on this computer so don't think that could be the problem. I should point out that I am on a works network and trying to download the mail for work. As I am the admin here at the school I am the only one who would access the email. The computer I use though is not the master computer it's second in line due to office changes. I will be changing it so that I have control over the master one. We do not have a server if that makes a difference.

stitch - you are not the only one having the problem.

The error is pretty non-specific though. Have you checked your event logs for more detail?

If you have an Administrator account on the PC, it would be worth logging on to that account to see if whatever has your ntuser.dat file confused will clear things.

A boot to safe mode couldn't hurt. Just start in safe mode then reboot and start in normal mode.

If neither of those help it may turn out that you have a bad ntuser.dat file associated with your account.
