    Darn Good Article:

    Understanding Virtual Memory

First off, let us get a couple of things out of the way

    · XP is a Virtual Memory Operating system

    · There is nothing you can do to prevent virtual memory in the NT kernel

In other words DON'T disable it. Just reign it in a little if you have large system RAM 512+

I've searched for information on the pagefile and found pieces here and there. This article presents it all in one place ...... :) ...... great find!

In the beginning I said ... stupid XP - the more RAM it gets, the larger the pagefile it requires ... but now I give it what it wants.

That's however, thanks to Norton Ghost which excludes "one session files" from the Images. I mean, who wants to burn two CDs of worthless pagefile to an Image?
