I have always run with Preview Pane and 'Let OE open attachments ....' - Never had a problem. My ISP scans for viruses and also has a spam blocker (plenty of potential viruses there!) and I have NAV 2004 aboard. Needless to say I am canny as to what attachment I open - unless from a 'known source' message and attachment is immediately zapped, but I can't remember anything slipping through the ISP screen or my own.

MIR11 - is your friend using Netscape? Worth checking this.

Tsk tsk Pete, yes. :) Not me. I said I don't use it. But I have to admit that I don't think it's that big a deal if things are set up right. Years ago I used to use it all the time and never had a problem. I haven't used it for 3 or 4 years now just because you never know. You think you have things fool proof and the next thing you know..... I always recommend to people that they shouldn't use it. Don't know what good it does though.
Tell her that he most likely wasn't alone then. Most likely his wife was with him and she was doing the map reading. ;)
