I need to know how to copy the entire program to my hard drive, eliminating the need to keep changing disks. I want to put all the information on my hard drive so that I do not have to use the program disk when using the program. Example, when using a program such as Print Master, there are 10 disks, and for every item I pick from the art gallery, I have to change disks. A REAL PAIN!! Or when playing a game, I must insert the disk to run the game. Please tell me step by step how to do this. I'm not a beginner, but would like instructions that are easy to understad as of o were.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple sometimes.

It will always be program specific as to whether you are able to load the material to disk as opposed to needing to run it with the aid of the cd it installs from.

If it can be done, most programs provide that as an installation option at the setup stage.

Some of those that don't can be made so by properly editing their .INI files. (Not for the faint of heart)

Others can be made so by merely copying their files to the hard drive and when the call is made for them you MAY be allowed to redirect the efforts to the directory you placed them in. Then again you MAY not. Program specific for sure.

You options are to try it on your own or post back and hope someone has done it that can guide you in a particular program or tell you it can't be done in a particular program. The latter may save you some grief.

    HTH

btw, With games, it's often a means of copyright protection so that you can't play without having the disk. There are ways around that (as with most things) but it will require you to purchase some additional software (Virtual CD emulator).

Thanks, I downloaded the Virtual CD program. However, haven't figured out how to use it yet.

whompuscat you'll like that software. It is fairly intuitive and very very useful.

BTW If you have the trial version, don't count on extending it somehow or even try to download it to another machine and use the files created while on this one. They have the best copyright protection you will ever see. When it expires in 30 days, you're not gonna use it again on that machine unless you slick the system and reinstall. It was fun trying though. :)

It's well worth the price of admission if you have the need.

Also be advised that it may have an uninstall problem if they haven't corrected it yet. They sent me the workaround promptly so it speaks highly of their support. This was about a year ago so it's probably not an issue now.

    Good luck.

ps I'm assuming This is the one you have.
