Ever since I got my computer fixed (the hard drive had to be erased and re-formatted) my printer won't work. I installed the latest drivers, but that doesn't do anything. When I try to print something, a message appears saying something like, "There was an error writing to LPT1: for the printer (Canon BJC-1000SP: Cannot access the port. It may be in use by another program. Quit other programs and try printing again." I close the other programs, but it's still the same. This has happened before. I know there's nothing wrong with the printer, because it was working fine before my computer got fixed. Please help me!

As this is a USB printer. Try uninstalling it from the device manager and allow windows to redetect it and install. It may be located under USB controllers. Look out for any yellow question marks. Ocassionally a power off of the printer can help as well.

    BTW! Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

never mind everyone... i fixed my printer myself

for anyone else who is having the same printer problems as me, i used this site:

    http://www.rundletech.com/printerguide6.html

Or, what I exactly did is I went into "BIOS ", then "I/O Device Configuration ", then changed the "Mode" from "Bi-Directional" to "EPP." The problem had been that my computer couldn't detect my printer when it was in "Bi-directional" mode, for some reason.
