I got a new videocam last night that works as a webcam. I plugged it into my usb and it said to install the driver. I didn't have the disk at the time, so I got out of the installation. HOWEVER! Now whenever I attach the device to my system... it doesn't popup the installation window anymore and the device does not show up in the hardware manager.

I went to the registry and searched for the device (DX77). I found MANY entries in here. I think they are not correct since I never finished installation? I tried to delete the entries, but get this error:

Cannot delete Vid_04f1&Pid_000a: Error while deleting key.

What can I do? The system won't let me clear this off and start over!

    Thanks,

    Chris

Try going to an earlier restore point.

Go to the Device Manager and see if there are any unknown devices listed. If there are, remove them, reboot and try again. If there aren't then just attach the camera and install the drivers from the installation disk.

It's very odd. I did a restore, and it did indeed remove the entries from the registry. However it STILL doesn't work. There are no unknown devices in the system, and the install disk doesn't have an install program... it says I need to install from the auto install from Windows...

I even just went back and got another thinking the hardware might be defective... still no luck...
