I attempted to load a greeting card on Hallmark Cards and did not appear. So, I checked their technical info and said I needed Macromedia Flash and directed me to a site I could download it. I downloaded it successfully so it said but the test if it was working did not work. I went back to the webite to try and get the card again and it still did nothing. I have IE 6.0 and windows XP. Any ideas what might be my problem?

    Checked all threads

It appears I may have another problem. I thought I had it licked when I checked the registry and found the extra entry -compatibility flags, and deleted it. I have followed all other suggestions and actually did the test that both newt and johanna suggested and the test confirms flash player is working. But when I do the test macromedia has on their web site, it is not working and the Hallmark cards are not working. Here is the link to the free hallmark cards. http://www.hallmark.com/hmk/Website...3667@@@@&BV_EngineID=gadckffhjhfgbedcfchcgn.0

So I'm at a loss of what else may be the problem. Security is on medium and everthing else checks out. I also went to discovery.com which was mentioned as a problem for someone and I can see everything at that web site. So why doesn't macromedia test work and hallmark cards work?

That link didn't produce anything for me. Try this one. If anything at all loads on that page, your flash is working. If you can see the pics on Newt's link, your flash player is working. On the Macromedia site, the window just says Macromedia Flash Player if working, blank if it's not. There will be three buttons in the window. Create, See and About. About tells you which version you have. Did you run the uninstaller and then reinstall?

It must be working Dave but I cannot view the Hallmark Cards. Your link and my link get the same page with this at the top. Hallmark Online

    We're Sorry...

A technical problem on our end has interrupted your shopping session. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I may have not understood the test because I am getting the results from the Macromedia test. I thought there was supposed to be animation when it was viewed. If I move my cursor over the 3 buttons it gives me a message and does tell me I have installed succesfully. Did you get to the Hallmark Cards to try to open one that says flash below it? When I click on it I get a blank white page with an outline around it.

Well Dave, here's another interesting thing. I tried on a friends computer to view Hallmark cards and sure enough, it worked. He has windows 98 and I have XP. That must have something to do with it. Is yours also XP? I just got my computer on April 8th and also have DSL. So if other web sites are ok and Hallmark is not, what could be the culprit? It's really not important that I view Hallmark, it more of a challenge to know what is the reason. I don't want you to spend any more time on this, unless someone sees this and has the same problem.

I used an XP and a 98 machine. Same results. My first link worked when I posted it but not later. And the page is different now than it was yesterday. It's the Hallmark site. Most likely just too much traffic with Mothers Day around the corner.

Now that mothers day is over and it was easy to get on the Hallmark web site I tried to get a card and it did not work but it does work on a computer with windows 98. So I guess there is a problem that I will give up on and perhaps it will come up again by someone. No problem. Thanks for following this issue.

If you use "Spyware Blaster" go to Tools>Flash Killer tab; is the "Disable and block Macromedia Flash . . box 'checked'? I use it to block the distracting Flash ads when surfing.
