Was wondering if there is any way to lock the background pic on windows 2000? I saw the thread on Windows 98 http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=30296
but when I look for "System" in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\System" I can't find the file...what is different about the file location...How can I do the same thing but on Windows 2000...

    thanks

Works on all versions of windows. What "file" can't you find? You must creat the policy by making anew DWord value. It does not exist by default.

    User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
    System]
    System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
    System]
    Value Name: NoDispSettingsPage
    Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
    Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)

first select an appropiate backround (or none)
then locate the Internet Explorer wallpaper.bmp
    Ususally in c:\windows or c:\windows\application data\microsoft\internet explorer

delete this file and create a FOLDER in its place with exaclty the same name. Now when the user tries to set as wallpaper they will recieve an “access deniedâ€.

This works for IE as well as MSPaint.
