On the Mac I would just drag and drop. But I'm not sure how to move an app from Windows 95 to Windows 98. I don't think it's so simple, is it? How do you do it?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Hi Chris - Welcome to the Board :)

You need to reinstall the app - I assume you mean program? Don't know anything about Mac's, but in Windows a program places many files deep inside Windows as well as in it's own folder.

If the app is no more than an *.exe file then you can drag and drop.

Thanks Pete. That's what I thought, but I think I've long lost my installer. Is there any way at all to figure out exactly what was dumped where?

Not without a crystal ball :D I think you ask the impossible - there is no way of knowing which *.dll (library) files are specific to a particular app and so on.

Without the original program on floppy/cd you are lost - sorry :(

It's an airline bidding program, and it has been about 7 1/2 years since I installed in Windows 95. Now I'm switching to Windows 98 and I am not sure where my install disk is. Maybe I'll have to really start looking hard.

Anyway, when I was taking care of my wife's Windows notebook a few years ago, I seem to remember a program that claimed to do this. It had a logo that was round, orange, and reminded me of the Tide detergent logo.

Thanks. Now, what's the name of the program?

The "Tide logo" means it was probably Norton Clean Sweep.

It does have a program-moving feature. I've not had much success with that part of it, even on program installs I monitored with Clean Sweep. The larger, more complex the program, the less the chance it can be transferred successfully.
