    Anyone seen this problem before?

I dont seem to be able to use java inside IE either. I have problems accessing hotmail thru IE and Windows Update just stops at a blank screen like above.

Could it be because I installed then uninstalled Microsoft Virtual Machine for Java on my machine? A website I use said I needed it before it would load.

btw, how do I use Print Scrn to just take the active window?

    Thanks in advance.

Alt Print Scrn will save just the active window to cache.
Not sure about the other problems. Maybe a cue for a repair installation of XP as I gather you can't access sys restore to roll back.
You've tried sys restore through both the accessories menu and help and suport?

Have you tried reinstalling Sun Java to see if that fixes things?

The symptoms you've described can by a virus. Run a full system scan with an up-to-date anti-virus program or use one of the free online virus scans: Panda, Housecall.

A repair of Internet Explorer has also been used to correct the problem since if IE gets corrupted, parts of Windows gets corrupted along with it.

Finally, some have reported fixing the problem by getting all the Windows patches and updates.
