Could a wireless router be used for a dialup connection to a laptop ?
If not could a desktop be used as sort of a server to connect the mdoem and then through a network card conect to the wireless router in order that a laptop with a wireless card be used ?

A "router" can have a dialup feature, such as a ISDB BRI connection. I have also seen a wired router with a COM used as a dialup port for fail-over if the serial port is down.

I have never heard of using a wireless router (or even a std router) being used to connect to a pc.

What are you trying to do?

Easier if you say exactly what device you have. Lots of feature options and some will easily allow what you want, some will need a bit of tweaking, and some just won't work at all.

Ideal if the device has the dial-up modem connection built in. Otherwise you are looking at using it as basically a switch/hub to connect the two PCs and then set up ICS host on the PC with the modem and ICS client on the other one so they can share the connection.
