After several months of using two firewire external drives (ACOM 60 gb and Maxtor One Touch 200 gb) along with my Canon Z40 camera all at the same time flawlessly.......The Maxtor has stopped playng well with others. When I turn on the camera, the Maxtor drops. Anytime I attempt to capture video to the Maxtor, it gives me an error message that a Disk Delay file write failed. It has the extension of MST or MLT...something like that for the file name. Obviously the drive is no long accessible at this point. As long as the camera is not turned on...it works fine.

First...what might cause this? Second, is there a way to fix it or just re-set them all to the glory days? I realize that firewire is not the most stable thing out there....but it did work for a couple of months and for no reason stopped.

Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions.

Right place but weekends are sorta slow with some of the regulars not looking at the forum.

I know zero about firewire so can't help other than to say that tomorrow should bring a response or two or three.

    JamesonProd,

I know less than either you or Newt, but since nobody has come to the plate, I'll suggest that if it were my problem, I'd start by uninstalling and reinstalling any associated software (CD'S etc.) that might contain drivers, 'cause broken drivers are a common problem in this situation, and the process can't hurt.
