When doing a manual download with IE6, the pop-up window stops responding
after I click on the download button. I have no problems with the automatic
update functions that are part of my standard programs. This problem just
surface within the last two weeks. I've tried to locate some information on
the download manage but have come up empty. Any help would be welcome.
I'm running XP Prof. w/AMD XP 1900. Thanks.

When the File Download Window opens, the Open, Save, Cancel and More Info buttons are all active. The File Name, File Type and From all display the correct file infromation that I want to download. I click on Save and the Save as Window opens, I select the folder I want to download into and click Save. The File Download Window re-appears and is either blank or all the buttons are shaded. When I close the File Download Window IE closes and disconnects from the Web and will not re-activate unless I restart my P/C.
I have already done a IE re-install but it did not help. I did not changed any security settings before this problem appeared. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Have you tried the right click - 'Save Target as' ?

This is the solution given by MS for IE 5.5

I don't have a direct answer to your problem, but look here ....

Did you run sfc /scannow as first stage of repairing IE? If not I suggest you do it ....

Start > Run > sfc /scannow - note the space and have your XP CD handy.
